School refectory / Novate Milanese (Milan)

Stato Built

Anno 1997

Cliente Municipality of Novate Milanese

Design Sagnelli Associati

The new school refectory in Novate Milanese arises from the need to respond to the necessary need to create a refectory that meets all the functional and regulatory requirements.

Its organic-expressionist form was conceived to create a student room in which its noise was muffled as much as possible; the curved walls, the inclined ceiling and therefore the absence of parallelisms, certainly helped to achieve this goal.

Given the particularly low budget, it was decided to use reinforced concrete as both a load-bearing and compositional reference material, which -associated with the shape of the building- fit well into the garden of the school itself.
